Mumbai: The BSE Sensex provisionally rose 0.2% in choppy trade on Thursday, led by gains in lenders and supported by firm world equities.

The 30-share BSE index provisionally ended up 0.21% or 38.41 points at 18,218.05 with 21 components gaining.

The 50-share NSE index provisionally closed up 0.3% at 5,478.30 points.
