Indian stock markets ended flat today, with Sensex ending 45 points lower at 38,645 while Nifty settled 3 points higher at 11,680. The breadth of the market was positive with 1,438 stocks advancing on the BSE and 1,238 declining. The rupee was trading at 70.95 in late trade against the US dollar after breaching the 71 mark for the time. The rupee had closed at 70.74 on Thursday. The government will announce GDP data for April-June quarter later today. India likely grew 7.6% during the quarter, propelled in part by an improvement in manufacturing and exports, a Reuters poll showed.

4:00 pm: The broader markets outperformed today with BSE midcap index rising 0.35% and smallcap index 0.55%. Among the Sensex stocks, Yes Bank today fell 5% while RIL declined 2.5%. Among the major Sensex gainers, Tata Motors, Power Grid and Sun Pharma rose between 2% and 2.5%

1:00 pm: The Sensex was down over 100 points in afternoon trade, with Yes Bank slumping over 6% and RIL declining 2.5%. ICICI Bank, M&M, Vedanta and Bharti Airtel were among top losers.

11:am: Idea Cellular Ltd gained as much as 6.32% to 53 per share after NCLT approves Idea-Vodafone merger.

Yes Bank Ltd lost as much as 6.6% to 338 per share. It has received the RBI’s approval that Rana Kapoor may continue as managing director & CEO of bank till further notice from RBI.

Castex Technologies Ltd gained as much as 4.88% to 1.29 per share after creditors approve resolution plan by Liberty House.

PNC Infratech Ltd gained as much as 9.41% to 175 per share after it received Letter of Award (LOA) from Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation for 4th Package of Nagpur-Mumbai Six Lane Super Communication Expressway (Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg) for a negotiated price of 1,999.52 crore.

JBF Industries Ltd lost as much as 9.7% to 42.05 per share after Rajdhani Investments & Agencies bought 1,62,00,000 shares of the company at 217 per share while Kavita Singh sold 92,00,000 shares of the company at 217 per share.

Hindustan Construction Company Ltd lost as much as 7.44% to 13.44 per share after Lavasa Corporation gets NCLT nod to start its insolvency proceedings.

10:50 am: Sensex and Nifty pare most of their early gains. The Sensex is down 18 points while Nifty is flat at 11,682.

9:38 am: IT and pharma stocks lead the rally today with NSE IT index up 1.4% and pharma index rising 2.4%. Wipro, Infosys and Sun Pharma shares were up over 2% in early trade.
