How urban India saves and invests
Wrapping up a 15-part series on how Indian households behave financially
Over the past few months, Mint Money has been showcasing results of the Indian Financial Scape survey—conducted by Delhi-based economics research firm Indicus Analytics to look at patterns in urban India—on financial asset and debt instrument ownership. In the first series comprising nine parts, we showed the financial asset ownership and in the second series comprising six parts, we showed debt instrument ownership. While financial assets included bank savings account, fixed deposits, life and health insurance, mutual funds and other such products, debt instruments included various loans. The data was broken across income groups. Over 35,000 households were surveyed across urban India in April-June 2012. Here is a summary of the key findings of the entire survey.
