H-1B visa: US says 65,000 visa cap reached for fiscal year 2019
US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said it has reached the Congressionally mandated 65,000 H-1B visa cap for FY 2019 and would conduct a lottery to decide successful applicants. The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise. The technology companies depend on it to hire a number of employees each year from countries like India and China. The USCIS has also received a sufficient number of H-1B petitions to meet the 20,000 visa cap for advanced degree exemption, known as the master’s cap.
