Over 3.7 million people in Paris participated in a march to show solidarity with the victims of last week's gruesome attack on office of satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. Here are some of the most significant rallies and marches in modern history in pictures-

Solidarity march-About 3.7 million people, along with some 40 world leaders took part in the march on 11 January 2015 in Paris, in tribute to victims of terror attack in Paris that killed 17 people. It was one of the biggest mass rallies since the liberation of Paris in 1944. Reuters

Dandi march-The famous Dandi march, led by Mahatma Gandhi began on 12 March 1930. It was a non-violent protest against the British salt monopoly in colonial India. Gandhi marched from Ahmedabad to Dandi (390 km) and triggered the civil disobedience movement.
