The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) halted all trading on Monday for nearly four hours as it faced a computer malfunction. Amid plunging Chinese stocks and a jarring Greek debt crisis, the halt sent stress levels soaring on the Wall Street.

The NYSE outage was not the only technical snag in the business world—The Wall Street Journal too faced technical issues when by noon its homepage crashed. A 504 error message was displayed when visitors attempted to reach WSJ.com.
