In Pakistan, where there are constant attacks on American supplies, there is near unanimity across the spectrum— from the military to the political class to the radicalized and impoverished masses that “Afghanistan is ours". This is a misguided outlook that has cost Islamabad dear as it chases that elusive goal. Afghanistan deserves peace and good governance. It should not be the “backyard" of any country.
