DDA housing scam; Delhi Police likely to widen scope of probe

New Delhi: Delhi Police is likely to widen its scope of investigations into the DDA housing scam by including the general category of allottees along with the SC/ST ones in its probe.

A senior official attached with Economic Offences Wing (EOW) said they may widen the ambit of investigations to the entire process of flat allotment to check whether any fraud was committed.

The EOW is presently investigating into a complaint that it received last month that some property dealers had connived with DDA officials and applied for flats under fictitious names to get the houses under SC/ST quota.

To ascertain whether any DDA officials are involved in committing the irregularities, he said, investigators are scanning the call records of two persons, who were arrested in connection with the irregularities in the flat allotment of the DDA.

The sleuths are examining the call records of Laxmi Narayan Meena and Deepak Kumar to check whether they had been in touch with any DDA officials to “rig" the draw of lots which was held on 19 December last year.

Besides, police have also sent the hardware of the draw of lots to establish whether officials of the agency were in any way involved in it.

The investigators are waiting for the report from the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory in Hyderabad about the hardware of the computer which was used for the draw of lots, the official said.
