New Delhi: In another bureaucratic reshuffle, the government late on Monday night appointed Hasmukh Adhia as secretary, department of financial services in the finance ministry, replacing incumbent G.S. Sandhu.
Adhia is a 1981 batch Indian Adminsitrative Service (IAS) officer of the Gujarat cadre.
Sandhu, a 1980 batch officer of the Rajasthan cadre has been appointed as chairman, National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention by the appointments committee of the cabinet.
This is the third secretary-level change that the Narendra Modi led government has effected in the finance ministry.
While Rajiv Takru was replaced as revenue secretary in June, Arvind Mayaram was replaced as finance secretary last month.
All the three were appointed as secretaries during the tenure of the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
