The verdict: the voter is worse off after 5 years

In the last one year, the outlook for the Indian economy has worsened in tandem with the spreading global recession. Growing job losses—by the government’s own estimate, half a million were laid off—have only further dampened sentiments. A survey conducted by the Marketing and Development Research Associates (MDRA) shows that three out of five voters either feel their economic condition is the same or worse than it was five years ago.
