Petrol price up Rs2.58 a litre, diesel by Rs2.26 a litre

Petrol will now cost Rs65.60 per litre in Delhi while diesel will cost Rs53.93 per litre

New Delhi: Petrol price was on Tuesday hiked by 2.58 per litre and diesel by 2.26 per litre, the second increase in rates in May.

Petrol will now cost 65.60 per litre in Delhi while diesel will cost 53.93 per litre.

Prices were last hiked on 17 May.

“The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and INR-USD (rupee-dollar) exchange rate warrant increase in price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision," Indian Oil Corp. Ltd said in a statement.

The movement of prices in the international oil market and rupee-dollar exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes, it added.
