Punjab election results: Pargat Singh wins from Jalandhar Cantt

Pargat Singh got 59,349 votes while SAD candidate got 30,225 votes and AAP candidate got 25,912 votes

Chandigarh: Congress candidate and former Indian hockey captain Pargat Singh retained his Jalandhar Cantonment seat by defeating Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Sarabjit Singh Makkar by a margin of 29,124 votes.

Pargat, an Olympian, polled 59,349 votes, while Sarabjit Singh got 30,225 votes and Aam Aadmi Party’s Harkrishan Singh Walia got 25,912 votes.

Notably, Pargat had won the 2012 assembly polls on a SAD ticket. In 2015, Pargat had quit SAD and switched over to the Congress.
