New Delhi: Actor-turned-politician and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani is sitting Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat who is taking on Congress party vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas in a high-profile contest in Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Data from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) shows that while Irani does not have stakes in companies, her husband Zuubin Fardoon Irani and stepdaughter Shenelle Irani control four companies—Ugraya Agro Farms Pvt. Ltd, Ugraya Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, Ugraya Mercantile Pvt. Ltd and Ugraya Waterworks Pvt. Ltd.

Zuubin also has a stake in Innovative Infraplus India Ltd. Irani did not respond to a e-mail questionnaire. Mint could not independently ascertain the nature of businesses transacted by these companies.
