Imphal: Congress appears set to retain power in Manipur by bagging 11 seats and leading in 13 others in the 60-member Assembly as per the trends available for 34 seats.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has won two seats while LJP bagged one seat. The Naga Peoples Front (NPF) was leading in four seats while TMC was surging ahead in three seats.

Chief minister O Ibobi Singh and works minister K. Ranjit were leading from Thoubal and Sugnu seats respectively in Thoubal district.

Congress candidate and social welfare minister N. Loken won the Nambol seat defeating former union sports minister Th Chaoba Singh of Manipur People’s Party by over 900 votes.

Forest minister and Congress candidate, Th Debendra Singh won the Jiribam seat defeating A. Biren of Trinamool Congress by over 2000 votes.

Congress candidate Kh Debendra won the Sekmai seat defeating TMC nominee Kh Dingo Singh by over 600 votes while Abdul Nasir of Congress won the Lilong seat defeating TMC nominee Md Alau LJP candidate Karam Shyam defeated veteran Manipur People Party leader O Joy in the prestigious Langthabal assembly seat by over 700 votes.
