Mumbai: Vijay Sethi won the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Business Professor of the Year Award on Friday. He will receive an award of $100,000, according to information on the EIU website.

Launched by EIU and supported by Hult International Business School, this is the only global award that recognizes and rewards excellence in business teaching.

Over 30,000 students and alumni nominated and voted for 222 professors from 31 countries.

A B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi; MBA from Ohio University, 1984; and PhD from the University of Pittsburgh, Sethi is professor in the department of information technology (IT) and operations management at Nanyang Business School, NTU, Singapore. Sethi has held many leadership roles at the school including coordinator of India strategy and dean of the business programme. He has also worked with a number of Singapore companies as a consultant and for executive education programmes including Abacus International and International Data Corp.

Specializing in electronic commerce, IT entrepreneurship, strategic information systems planning, IT productivity, and knowledge management, Sethi is published in the top IT journals.
