Chennai: Former national security advisor M.K. Narayanan, who was the key speaker at a colloquium titled ‘The Future of Tamil Refugees in India’, was attacked with a slipper on Wednesday at the Music Academy in Chennai.
Eyewitnesses said that the incident took place after he climbed down the dais at the event organized by The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy.
The attacker has been identified as Prabhakaran, a Sri-Lankan Tamil from Aranthangi in Pudukkottai district. He is believed to have said that Narayanan was responsible for the death of 150,000 Tamils in Sri Lanka.
He was arrested and taken to the Royapettah police station immediately after the incident.
Narayanan, who was not injured, was escorted out by former DGP of Tamil Nadu A.X. Alexander.
