New Delhi: In a year when countries across the globe are expected to come together in Paris in December to strike a new climate change pact, India will see a Climate Change Express chugging across the country to sensitise people, especially children and the youth, about the subject.
This was decided at the first meeting of the Science Express Climate Change Special (SECCS) on Wednesday, chaired by environment minister Prakash Javadekar and attended by, among others, science and technology minister Harsh Vardhan.
“This year, the Science Express—an exhibition mounted on a train—will focus on the theme of climate change. It will be the Climate Change Express,” said Javadekar.
Science Express is a joint initiative of three ministries—the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Science & Technology. The train has had an eight-year run. Last year, its theme was biodiversity.
