Power supply restored in north, east
New Delhi: Power supply to the tune of 15,000 MW and 4,200 MW was restored in the northern and eastern region, respectively, after their electricity grids failed at 1 pm on Tuesday and units in the north-east started tripping.
Hundreds of miners were trapped in coal mines in West Bengal. But officials said rescue operations were on.
According to a mining expert, workers would survive if the mines are not filled with gas and there is enough supply of water.
The north-eastern grid was stabilised resulting in power supply of 900 MW against average demand of 1,200 MW.
While Delhi started receiving supply of 2,100 MW against average demand of 4,000 MW, the western region and southern region were getting 28,100 MW and 26,250 MW of electricity, respectively. The all India supply of electricity was 64,450 MW against average demand of 120,000 MW.
