New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that it would decide the fate of 24 hydropower projects in the Alaknanda-Bhagirathi valley in Uttarakhand, after it hears all stakeholders—the Uttarakhand government, the project proponents, activists and the affected—in March.

A bench headed by justice Dipak Misra said that there were multiple issues and would be dealt with in batches. “There cannot be one judgement," judge Misra said, adding that they would begin with 6 cases and move on to the other projects.

At present, the court is considering 6 projects—one of NTPC Ltd, NHPC Ltd, THDC India Ltd, and GMR Energy Ltd, respectively, and two by Super Hydro.
