Liberhan debate rescheduled

New Delhi: would now discuss the the Liberhan commission report on Monday and Tuesday next week. The debate which was earlier scheduled for 9 and 10 of December, next week. The debate in Rajya Sabha is scheduled for he next two days on Wednesday and Thursday.

“A decision to prepone the debate by two days was taken after all parties agreed on it," deputy leader of BJP in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj told reporters.

She said Parliamentary Affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal was approached by the Rajya Sabha members who did not want the debate in the Upper House to be shifted to the third week of December. The Lower House would get preference as per convention and since the earlier date for the debate in the Lok Sabha was to be held on December 9 and 10, the Upper House could hold it only on December 14, Swaraj said.

Home Ministry made available 75 Hindi copies of the Liberhan Commission report to each House of Parliament today as per the demand raised by Samajwadi Party members because of which the debate had to be cancelled on the first of this month.

Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has announced Ananth Kumar along with party President Rajnath Singh and Swaraj in the Lok Sabha as their speakers while leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu and Ravi Shankar Prasad will represent the party in the Upper House.
