India falters in curbing infant mortality

The decline in infant mortality rates in the current decade is higher than in the previous one. But projections show that at the current rate, India is unlikely to meet the target set by United Nations Millennium Development Goals to reduce the under-five mortality rate by two-thirds by 2015.
