New Delhi: Union mines minister Narendra Singh Tomar will hold back-to-back consultations with state chief ministers (CMs) to finalise a view on amending the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
Tomar is scheduled to meet Manohar Parrikar and Vasundhara Raje, chief ministers of Goa and Rajasthan respectively, on Thursday and Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Friday.
Tomar has written to the chief ministers to come together to evolve a ‘transparent and efficient system of allocation of leases, along with a robust regulatory framework that best serves India’s interests.’
