Jet Airways is looking to get on board one of the big international airline alliances. Chairman Naresh Goyal said his airline would join either SkyTeam or Star Alliance. He added that this would expand his Jet’s revenues by about 5%. The government is currently opposed to Jet becoming part of the Star Alliance because Air India is joining it. Meanwhile another airline, Kingfisher, is becoming part of OneWorld.
And Maruti Suzuki is all set to break its own sales record all over again. The company has already sold more than one million cars in the first ten months of this fiscal year. Last fiscal, Maruti Suzuki had managed to sell a record 1,018,365 vehicles. Maruti is currently building a second factory that will be up by January of 2012 and a third one that will get operational a year after that.
And the owner of the Pizza Hut and KFC chains in India finally expects to turn a corner. Niren Chaudhary, the managing director of Yum Restaurants for the Indian subcontinent says the company will make a profit this year. He also said the company would open new outlets that will help it compete more effectively with larger rivals like McDonald’s.
