New Delhi: The Union tribal affairs ministry has received complaints against 13 NGOs situated in different parts of the country, but majority of the charges were found to be baseless.

However, minister of state for tribal affairs Mansukhbhai Dhanjibhai Vasava did not mention when the complaints were received against the NGOs, in his written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Complaints were received against 13 NGOs situated in different parts of the country, but the charges against eight NGOs were “found baseless" when it was investigated by the respective state governments.

As far as the remaining NGOs are concerned, they are debarred from getting support from the ministry till the complaints are investigated.

Responding to another question, the minister said the ministry of tribal affairs is bringing five education schemes for tribal students under one umbrella. These are pre-matric scholarship, post-matric scholarship, vocational training centres, establishment of hostels for ST boys and girls, and setting up of Ashram Schools.
