Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday alleged that the union rail ministry had not created any budgetary provision for at least three extensions of the Kolkata Metro rail, forcing works to grind to a halt.

A nominal budgetary provision has been made for ongoing works on Kolkata’s East-West Metro line, she said, adding that this was another instance of the state being deprived of funds for development and expansion of urban infrastructure.
