New Delhi: With the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wresting power in both Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, chief ministers Raman Singh and Shivraj Singh Chouhan are only the second state heads from the BJP to hold the top post for three consecutive terms.
Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi became the first ever BJP leader to secure a hat-trick term, after his win in the assembly elections held last year.
The Congress party dominates the list of 14 chief ministers who have won hat-trick mandates, with eight leaders.
The list includes Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati, who has had more than three terms in office but not continuously, as is Sheila Dikshit who has just been voted out in Delhi.
