Delhi’s tax mop-up rises 27% in FY12
New Delhi: The tax collection in Delhi has increased significantly without increasing tax rates, said Sheila Dixit, chief minister of Delhi, on Wednesday.
Delhi faces an enormous housing shortage for those who migrate to the city in search of work and opportunities, and thus other states should also focus on making their cities centers of growth, so that migration reduces, Dixit added, “We should have more than 370 cities with opportunities, so that people do not need to migrate."
Stressing on the fact that development has to be brought in a more equitable manner, Dixit said that schemes like Bhagidari have greatly allowed more people to voice their opinions and for change to take place from the grass root level.
