Mumbai: A day after an air-conditioning duct on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar metro train malfunctioned, leading to rainwater pouring into a coach, Mumbai Metro One Pvt. Ltd (MMOPL) claimed that it has taken “all necessary measures” to ensure such incidents will not recur.
“Inconvenience to commuters yesterday has been taken seriously by us. We checked all 128 air-conditioning units last night and found them in order. We are committed to provide our commuters the best of services,” an MMOPL spokesperson said in a statement issued in the city on Thursday.
Out of 16 metro trains in service, one train’s air-conditioning unit malfunctioned during a heavy downpour on Wednesday, which led to its floor getting flooded due to water pouring in from the air conditioning vent.
Within minutes photographs of the flooded coach and rain water pouring in from the ceiling went viral on the Internet, after which the company replaced the train with one that had been kept on stand-by. The company spokesperson also said that the train was put back into service this morning.
