Department of Biotechnology pushes for affordable medical devices
The govt-led programme will release several new products in the market this year to empower health workers and patients
New Delhi: In an attempt to push for cheaper medical devices, a government-led programme will release several new products in the market this year to empower health workers and patients.
According to the Department of Biotechnology, its incubator Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council has supported nearly 300 start-ups and small and medium enterprises and 150 young entrepreneurs for innovation, research and product development.
“India will capture 10% share by 2025 in line with China’s share today. This will lead to an opportunity of at least $20 billion by 2025," said minister for science and technology Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday. “This programme is on a firm and sound footing," he added.
