SP MLAs in contact with BJP, may resign any time: Sangeet Som
UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had taken steps to overhaul govt that also included dropping 'non-performing' ministers
Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Sangeet Som, an accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots, on Sunday claimed that around 125 Samajwadi Party (SP) MLAs are in contact with the BJP and they may resign any time resulting in the fall of the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
“About 125 SP MLAs have contacted us and they may resign at any time which may result in the fall of the Akhilesh government," Som said. Following the Samajwadi’s Party’s debacle in the parliamentary elections in which it won only five seats, chief minister Yadav took steps to overhaul the government that also included dropping “non-performing" ministers.
Reacting to Som’s statement, a senior SP leader said on condition of anonymity, “After the Lok Sabha elections, many steps that have been taken by the SP leadership to improve the image of government and try to provide good governance have increased the dissatisfaction in the party... However the party is keeping a close eye on those who are planning to shift their loyalties," he said.
