New Delhi: The rate of agricultural production has declined in the post-liberalization era and a growth rate of over 5% in the coming five years would be beneficial for the sector, rural development secretary B.K. Sinha said at a seminar on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), on Monday.
Sinha said the programme has restored vibrancy in agricultural wages and has proved beneficial for small agricultural land holdings.
He called on industry to partner in bringing about technological breakthroughs, aiming at improving agricultural productivity and to replicate successful projects on a large scale.
