SC stays Yakub Memon’s death sentence, review to be heard
Court asks Maharashtra govt among others to respond by 28 January 2015 in the review of Memon's death sentence
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the death sentence of the 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon till the decision in an open court review hearing.
A three-judge bench of justices Anil R. Dave, J. Chelameswar and Kurian Joseph asked the Maharashtra government among others to respond by 28 January 2015 in the review of his death sentence.
The apex court had, in 2013, upheld Memon’s conviction in relation to the Mumbai blasts which killed over 250 people.
