India misses out on most UN development indicators

The shortfall is despite economic growth and emphasis on inclusion

India has missed out on most of the development indicators set out in the Millennium Development Goals laid down by the United Nations (UN) despite making economic progress, official data show. This was despite the emphasis on inclusion. India will fall short of targets for key health indicators such as the maternal, infant and under-five mortality rates. It, however, succeeded in halving poverty as desired and managed universal enrolment in schools.
