Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said she wanted an audience with prime minister Narendra Modi during his two-day visit to the state this weekend.
Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress party fiercely opposes Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), both in the state and at the Centre. Lately, though, she has shown signs of softening her stand.
Mamata said she wanted to speak to the prime minister to discuss the state’s demands on various social sector schemes. It isn’t immediately known whether the Centre will oblige her with an appointment to meet Modi.
