TMC’s Manish Gupta to become Rajya Sabha member

Trinamool Congress has chosen Manish Gupta to be its candidate to fill up the Rajya Sabha vacancy created by the resignation of Mithun Chakraborty

Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has chosen Manish Gupta, former power minister of West Bengal, to be its candidate to fill up the Rajya Sabha vacancy created by the resignation of its MP Mithun Chakraborty.

Actor Chakraborty resigned as a member of the upper house in December. Gupta, who has served as the chief secretary of West Bengal, defeated former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to become a lawmaker in 2011, but he lost the 2016 assembly election.
