AAP to hold open discussions in Delhi
The party plans to learn the aspirations of the citizens of Delhi and frame a blueprint to achieve the same, says Arvind Kejriwal
New Delhi: Taking its assembly election campaign forward, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to launch a series of open forum discussions called ‘Delhi Dialogue’ that will elicit the views of citizens in order to draw up a blueprint for Delhi’s future.
The dialogue will see policy-based discussions among AAP leaders, academicians, businesses, bureaucrats, elected officials, national and international researchers, experts and citizens of Delhi. In a bid to develop Delhi into a world class city, party convener Arvind Kejriwal said, “We wish to know what the dreams of the public in Delhi are. After talking to all these people and understanding their dreams for Delhi through ‘Delhi Dialogue’, we will create a 50-point blueprint to make the life of every resident of Delhi better.
People want a Delhi where everyone gets employment, education, health services, no traffic congestions and riots," he said.
The results of these discussions will be drawn into a 50-point blueprint for a five-year government. “This blueprint will not just be a manifesto, it will be points for future governance," said party leader and former Apple executive Adarsh Shastri.
The AAP team for ‘Delhi Dialogue’ comprises Shastri, former banker Meera Sanyal, former journalist Ashish Khetan and the party’s lead researcher Roshan Shankar, who is also coordinating the project. The dialogue will be formally launched on 15 November in New Delhi. “Previous governments in Delhi have created walls between the government and the people. These walls will be brought down by this dialogue," said Khetan.
