Tyagi’s cousins were questioned on their alleged association with European middlemen involved in the deal
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday questioned former Indian Air Force chief S.P. Tyagi and his three cousins in connection with the purchase of 12 helicopters for top government officials from Finmeccanica unit AgustaWestland.
The agency had last month registered a preliminary enquiry against the four, the chief executive officers of Finmeccanica and AgustaWestland, three middlemen, two Indian companies and their executives. The agency is yet to register a formal case in this regard.
The allegation is that AgustaWestland paid kickbacks to Indian officials through middlemen in the guise of fake engineering projects.
