Voter I-card or any 13 photo documents for casting vote: EC
New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) on Monday said 13 alternative photo documents would be used to establish the identity of voters if they failed to produce the Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) at the time of exercising their franchise.
A voter would have to produce any of the 13 documents such as passports, driving licences, PAN cards, service identity cards issued by central and state governments, public sector units, local bodies or public limited companies with photographs, deputy election commissioner J P Prakash told reporters.
Other documents allowed are passbooks issued by public sector banks, post office and kisan passbooks, property documents such as pattas, registered deeds, ST/SC/OBC certificates, pension documents , freedom fighter identity cards, arms licenses, certificate of physical handicap, job cards issued under NREGA and health insurance scheme Smart Cards.
Any of the documents that was available only to the head of the family may also be used for identifying the other members of the family provided all members come together and identified by the head of the family.
