New Delhi: Union minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Venkaiah Naidu on Friday asked the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) to not politicize the uniform civil code issue.
“The Muslim Personal Law Board should not politicize the uniform civil code issue," PTI quoted Naidu.
The minister also said that triple talaq is being linked to uniform civil code but the main issues are gender justice, non-discrimination and dignity of women.

Naidu also assured that “nothing will be imposed on people" and the government “wants a debate on triple talaq." He also criticized the AIMPLB for dragging the prime minister on the issue.
Opposing the Law Commission’s questionnaire on uniform civil code, the AIMPLB on Thursday had criticized the Narendra Modi government for creating rift between communities. The minority organization’s view came in the backdrop of the BJP-led Centre telling the Supreme Court that it the practice of triple talaq.
