I&B ministry seeks sop on newsprint transport

New Delhi: The information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry has sought service tax waiver on transport of imported newsprint as part of its budget proposal, minister Ambika Soni said on Thursday after a pre-budget meeting with finance minister Pranab Mukherjee.

The I&B ministry has also proposed cut in fringe benefit tax on both print and electronic media to 5% from 20% currently.
