Centre defers Andhra parties meet to distribute Srikrishna panel report
New Delhi: The union home ministry on Monday said it had called off the 6 January meeting of all eight state parties to distribute the Srikrishna committee report as well fix the new date for discussion.
The development came a day after TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao and state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), threatened to boycott all party meet, over inviting two members each from the all the eight parties.
The report was submitted to Home Minister P. Chidambaram by justice Sri Krishna and the other members on 30 December after which Chidambaram invited all eight recognised parties of Andhra Pradesh.
“It will be the first meeting and no one is expecting any breakthrough there as the parties are yet to see the report. So, we have to give them time to discuss the report at their respective party level," said a senior government official.
“Also if any of the representatives of the political parties decide not to attend the meeting called by the home ministry, it will send the report to them," the official added.
