Harsh Vardhan Shringla named ambassador to Thailand
Harsh Vardhan Shringla replaces Anil Wadhwa, who will be returning to the head quarters to take up the post of secretary, east

New Delhi: Harsh Vardhan Shringla, currently joint secretary looking after the Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Myanmar desk in the ministry of external affairs, has been named India’s next ambassador to Thailand.
He replaces Anil Wadhwa, who will be returning to the head quarters to take up the post of secretary, east.
In his current position, Shringla, an officer of the 1984 batch, has been overseeing the construction of the India-Myanmar-Thailand Asian trilateral highway that is to be completed by 2016.
India is keen on closer economic and strategic ties with the 10-member Association of South East Asian Nations, or Asean, of which Thailand and Myanmar are members. Asean is expected to coalesce into the Asean economic community by 2015.
