India is expected to retain its position as the top remittances-receiving country with inflow of funds amounting to $65 billion in the year 2017, the World Bank said in a report on Tuesday. India is trailed by China, the Philippines, Mexico and Nigeria among the top five remittance-receiving countries. In 2016, India received remittances amounting to $62.7 billion. Remittances to India in 2018 are expected to grow 2.5%.
