IIM Calcutta concludes final placements

IIM-C says 100% final placement for the outgoing batch of 438 students was completed in just two-and-a-half days

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C), on Friday completed its final placement with finance and consulting companies offering the largest number of jobs, the business school said on Friday.

The 100% final placement for the outgoing batch of 438 students was completed in just two-and-a-half days, it said. An unprecedented 501 offers were made during the process,

IIM-C said in a statement that financial institutions were the top recruiters with more than 100 offers. Leading banks such as Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Citibank and Deutsche Bank offered several positions to the students.

Besides, “consulting firms showed great faith in the campus, making 20% of the total offers". The Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Co., McKinsey, AT Kearney and Accenture Management Consulting were amongst the major firms to hire in the consulting sector.

With 18 offers, Accenture was the largest recruiter at IIM-C.

Besides finance and consulting, sales and marketing contributed 19% of the offers. Companies such as Proctor and Gamble, ITC Ltd, PepsiCo, Dabur India Ltd, Aditya Birla Group, Reliance Industries Ltd, Bharti Airtel Ltd offered sales and marketing, leadership and general management roles.

The booming e-commerce firms and start-up companies too made 47 offers. Companies who offered positions to IIM-C students, include Amazon.com, Snapdeal.com, Flipkart.com, Olacabs, GroupOn, Quikr, UrbanLadder, CarTrade, etc.

Placement chairperson Rajiv Kumar said firms reaffirmed “their faith in the quality of our graduates".

“We will continue to work hard, and strive for better results in future so that we at IIM Calcutta are able to meet the ever-increasing expectations of all the stakeholders such as students, firms, and society," Kumar added.
