Gadkari moves court against Digvijay Singh
BJP chief Nitin Gadkari moved Delhi’s Patiala House court after Singh failed to reply to a legal notice
New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari on Monday moved a city court against Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh for allegedly making false and defamatory remarks against him.
Gadkari moved Delhi’s Patiala House court after Singh failed to reply to a legal notice.
“The court took cognizance of our complaint and fixed 16 October as the next date for recording statement of other witnesses in the case. Nitin Gadkari recorded his statement before the magistrate," his lawyer Pinky Anand told reporters.
The BJP president sent a legal notice to Singh last month after media reports cited the Congress leader as claiming that Ajay Sancheti, a business partner of Gadkari, had earned a profit of ₹ 490 crore from coal mines allocated to him in Chhattisgarh. Anand said the allegations were defamatory, scandalous and false.
Singh could not be reached for comment immediately.
