About 94% of rural households and 83% of urban households in Gujarat reported they had drinking water, according to 2012 data released by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO). About 58% of rural households and 84% of urban households had access to drinking water on their premises, meaning the remaining had to procure water from somewhere else.

And 86.3% of rural households and 96.1% of urban households reported having sufficient access to drinking water throughout the year.
