New Delhi: Shifting its Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election campaign in top gear, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will field its senior leaders including party chief Amit Shah for seeking votes for the party in the civic body polls in Delhi.

Shah will address an election rally in southwest Delhiā€™s Dwarka along with party leader and Bhojpuri film actor Ravi Kishan, on 20 April, said Delhi BJP media in-charge Praveen Kapoor.

The same day, Union home minister Rajnath Singh will hold election rallies in Kirari and Mustafabad. Other Union ministers and senior party leaders, including Venkaiah Naidu, Uma Bharti, Harsh Vardhan, Santosh Gangwar and Sanjiv Balyan, will also address rallies in different parts of the city on Wednesday, Kapoor said.

Campaigning for the election will end on the evening of 21 April. The votes for 272 wards of three municipal corporations will be cast on 23 April.

Counting of votes and announcement of results will take place on 26 April. BJP is pitted against Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a triangular contest for the corporations that it has ruled for last one decade.
