Hyderabad: Member of Parliament (MPs) from Seemandhra, who were expelled from the Congress party, and other party leaders on Sunday urged Andhra Pradesh caretaker chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to launch a new political outfit.

“We fought (in Parliament) and chief minister in the assembly. Our fight should not go waste. We told him to start a new party. He will also talk to MLAs tomorrow (Monday)," MP G.V. Harsha Kumar told reporters

Another expelled MP Sabbam Hari also said Reddy would continue his consultations with MLAs and others on Monday and a conclusion can be reached thereafter.

Reddy had resigned from his post on 19 February in protest against the division of Andhra Pradesh and the way the AP Reorganization Bill was pushed through in Parliament.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan has asked Kiran Kumar Reddy and his council of ministers to continue in their posts till alternative arrangements are made.

The Congress leadership and the Centre have not yet taken a decision on formation of a new government in AP or imposing President’s rule in the state.

The Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill was passed in Parliament last week and now awaits President’s assent.
