A somewhat stronger India

New Delhi: As the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing conclude, India is celebrating its first three-medal haul, including a debut individual gold for shooter Abhinav Bindra.

This helped India, which was tied with two others for the 65th spot among 74 medal-winning countries in the 2004 Athens Games with just one silver, move up the medals table, ending the 2008 Games at No.50 out of 87 countries that won any medals.
