Tripura signs pact with German govt for PATNRM project
Agartala: The Tripura government has signed an MoU with Germany for the the ambitious Poverty Alleviation Through Natural Resource Management (PATNRM) programme which would benefit about 75,000 families in the state.
Chief Secretary Shashi Prakash and Germany’s Mission Director (Technical) Hans Helmrich signed the agreement on 28 September which would entail around Rs112 crore.
The project will be implemented in Ambassa and Kamalpur sub-divisions in Dhalai district, State Forest Minister Jitendra Choudhury said on 28 September.
He said the project will focus on value addition to resources like bamboo, medicinal plants and wood.
Earlier, a four-member team of German government led by Helmrich had arrived here on 21 September.
The team members had a meeting with Industries Minister Tapan Chakraborty and Chief Secretary Shashi Prakash and discussed various issues related to the project.
They visited different places of Dhalai district and held detailed discussions with the concerned departmental officials before singing the memorandum of understanding with the state government.
